Planning a session doesn’t have to be stressful and I really want to eliminate any stress or uncertainty you have about it. Photography is fun, and I want to show you that. When you book a session with me, we will discuss where the best place to take a picture of your family is. I love many areas that Southern Indiana has to offer, like Perrin Park, Vissing Park, the Big Four Bridge, and more. I am also willing to venture to Louisville, New Albany, Charlestown, or farther North for any park or location you want (I do require a travel fee for anything further than 25 miles from Jeffersonville, Indiana. Please contact me for more information on that).
After we pick a session, we will also discuss wardrobe and what type of feel you want in your family session. I like to get as much detail out of the way before the session date. If you ever have any questions that aren’t answered below, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time during our booking process. I am here to help and make this experience as simple and stress free as possible.

FAQ
Family Sessions
WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?Family Sessions can take place in any location that the Kentuckiana area has to offer. There are many wonderful, beautiful parks in Indiana and Kentucky that we can use. Keep in mind that some parks might require a license in order to take pictures, and you will be required to pay for that. I also offer In-Home Family sessions. These are more laid back and would take place in your home.
HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION LAST?Family sessions last from one to two hours. I like to take my time and have fun, so please plan for that amount of time.
WHEN DO YOU SCHEDULE YOUR FAMILY SESSIONS?I am extremely flexible with what day we schedule your family session, week night or weekend. For outdoor on-location family sessions, they will be scheduled for an hour before sunset. I can shoot in the morning for these, but I do prefer the evening light. For in-home family sessions, it will typically be in the morning. We will discuss what your light is like in your home and you will have homework to examine your light in your house.

No problem at all if you need to reschedule! I understand that people get sick and emergencies come up, and also the weather doesn’t always cooperate for outdoor shoots. If you do need to reschedule, I ask that you give me a 24 hour notice.
HOW CAN I MAKE SURE THIS SESSION GOES SMOOTHLY?In general, sessions with me are low key and laid back. This isn’t something you need to stress about. Leading up to the session we will discuss in detail all the pieces. We’ll talk about clothing choices, location, payment, what type of posing will happen. I also encourage you to be relaxed about your kids – I want to capture them being kids. And I want to capture them crying or laughing. I don’t expect your kids to be perfect. I want to capture you naturally. Why? Natural photos always lend to more smiles, more laughs, and more fun! Sessions with me are fun and I hope you walk away with not only beautiful pictures, but a fun experience. There’s no need to be stressed out about how your family looks.
DO WE GET ALL OF THE PHOTOS YOU TAKE? HOW MANY WILL YOU TAKE?
I will take a lot of shots and we’ll go through different poses. When I am preparing your gallery, I will narrow it down to the best shots. This is usually around 35 images, but I am an overshooter, so you usually get more! Sometimes the poses we try, might not work out and I won’t include those. I will edit these images and give you the final products for you to download and use as you wish.

These family photos are the best family photos we’ve ever gotten! I love every single one of them and I can’t stop looking. You really do have a magical touch.

WHAT TO WEAR
Here is some general advice on what to wear. If you have further questions, please ask!
Coordinate your outfits, instead of matching. When you match you tend to all blend together, and we would rather have each family member pop. Start with one outfit you really like and build the rest of the look from there. Use all medium tones or all neutrals.
I advise to stay away from bright neons as they don’t photograph well. I would also recommend staying away from white and instead go for a cream color.
Add accessories! Accessories add depth, interest, and color (but don’t overdo it!). Belts, watches, bracelets, necklaces, vests, cardigans, scarves, jackets, etc..
Wear something that is comfortable but also looks nice.
Please do not wear any graphic tees or t-shirts with words on them. They do not photograph well. Also avoid black if you can, as that does not photograph well either.

Preparing for your session:
FAMILY SESSIONPlease have everyone well rested (including you, Mom!) and happy before the session. Keep things relaxed and fun.
Hair should be clean and styled simply. Have haircuts done a week before the session.
Make sure your hands and nails are clean and simple – I love using hands in my pictures!
If you are bringing a pet, let me know ahead of time. Make sure your pet gets a lot of exercise before the shoot, so that we have a relaxed pup as a result.
Bring snacks! Especially if you have little ones. We can and will take a break for them to run around and get some energy out (and I’ll probably photograph that as well!). I would also bring bottled water or juice for everyone. Breaks are nicer with food and water. 🙂
Bring a hairbrush – just in case.
Pack some extra clothes in case of spills or if it’s chillier than you thought it would be.
Bring bug spray! Bug bites are no fun.
Please bring any props you might want, like a family quilt. I have my own simple quilt I will use if you don’t have a quilt, but it’s always fun to add your own personal style to the shoot.
Come ready to have relaxed fun! I want this to be a treat for the whole family. I want to laugh and enjoy ourselves while I photograph your family being together. We’re going to make memories together. Not just pictures.
